HT 56/30 HEAT TREATED TIMBER
Here at Cruiseway Ltd we are now using HEAT TREATED 56/30 timber for all cases made, we are registered with the Forestry Commission and are members of:
'The U.K Wood Packaging Material Marking Programme'

All of our cases and pallets are stenciled to ISPM15. If shipping to China or U.S.A for example, this means our timber is acceptable for import.
With BS1133 as a starting point, here at Cruiseway we will manufacture
crates and cases to your, or your customers specification. We are happy to
advise on cost effective design and manufacture, and we're always mindful
of the needs for adequate protection. Where possible we employ environmentally
friendly materials and processes. Every job is treated as an individual case
and handled with care and commitment.
Where practicable, all forms of packing from Cruiseway are built with the
environment in mind. Timber usedin the construction of crates and pallets
are derived from sustainable sources and where possible from Forestry Stewardship Council approved suppliers.
Recyclable or bio-degradable packing materials are used whenever possible,
reinforcing Cruiseway's commitment to the reduction of CFC's. This was recently
demonstrated when the company invested heavily in airbag packingtechnology
replacing traditional environmentally un-friendly styrene based materials.
Preparation for export packing
Cruiseway Ltd bases all export packing to standard BS 1133.
Each item is treated individually, upon receiving goods for packing an assessment is made as to how the goods are to be treated and packed, relevant information is required, certain questions need to be asked.
- Is there any special specifications for the case making i.e. letter of credit requirement that may be calling for special timber thickness or special lining for instance?
- Are the goods going air Freight or Sea Freight? They may need to be packed to fit into a sea freight container, or to fit through an X ray machine at the airport.
- Is there any requirement for hermetically sealing with desiccant to protect against moisture. i.e. electrical items.
- Long term storage requirements.
- Does the case need to be re-useable i.e. for an exhibition and subsequent return of the goods, therefore it could be constructed with screws and bolts.
- Are there any special requirements as to which way the item should be packed inside the case i.e. upright, or laying over.
- Do we need to fit ‘Tip n Tells’ Shock watch detectors ?
- Any special precautions as to the lifting and securing of large machinery.
- Are the goods Hazardous, if so these will need special packing to UN specifications and packed according to the type of hazard and relevant limitations.
Once the above factors have been discussed, other important issues may be raised, we are then able to choose the case style and design best suited for mode of transport and the type of freight.

This style of case is made solely of timber, and is ideally suited for road and sea freight shipments,in this instance the inside of the case is wax paper lined, the items are sealed in a barrier foil bag with desiccant to absorb any moisture that may be present. If needed, the case contents would be quite safe for long term storage, even in outside conditions.

This case contains wrapped clay models, you can see how we have lined
the case in shock absorbent polystyrene, and padded them out with shredded cardboard, the models packed in this way should be quite safe for transport by air freight or sea freight, the case packaging will help absorb any shocks created along the way.
This style of case is made with timber battens and plywood, making it a lighter duty case, it is still quite suitable for goods to travel road, air or sea freight.
As long as this case is handled along route with relative care, these will arrive safe and sound !
